District 13 Site Submission Request

Please complete the following form and submit it if you want to have your site:

  1. Listed on the District 13 Web Site,

  2. Listed the National USCG AUX Web-Site or

  3. You would like server space on the national server. 

Please note, only sites approved by District 13 will be listed on the District 13 site.  Sites must be approved by National to be linked from the National website AND Flotilla finder links can only be made to Nationally Approved Web Sites

Please put a check next to each item if your site complies with that requirement.  Your initials and date at the end of the form indicates your 'signature' validating these the form is correct.  Please contact the DSO-CS for District 13 if you have any questions.

When a graphic image is used for site identification, an alternate text identification shall be provided in the HTML code that displays the image.

NOTES:

APPROVAL AND AUTHORIZATION

(1) All Auxiliary sites must be approved by the unit that they purport to represent. This requires a formal authorization from that unit's governing board. If more than one unit is being represented on a single site, each represented unit must provide formal authorization. As an example, if a Division and two of it's Flotillas share a common site, then approval must be obtained from that Division Board, and the Flotilla Commanders of both flotillas. return to form

(2) All Auxiliary Internet sites are required to notify the Auxiliary Division Chief - Web Services (DVC-IW) of their existence. The site's Internet Address (URL), contact information, and any other pertinent information should be provided. This is accomplished by notifying the local DSO-CS (or their designee). They will conduct a preliminary review, and submit the necessary information to the DVC-IW. return to form


SITE IDENTIFICATION

(1) Auxiliary Web sites must clearly identify the sponsoring unit within the site's HTML code. This information should be located in the <HEAD> section of the document, between the <TITLE>...</TITLE> tags.  This will make sure the your webpage is properly identified in the browser's title bar and in most search engines.  return to form

(2) Proper identification of the Web page(s) must also be present visually to the site's user. A copy of the graphic Auxiliary Banner, from the National Web page, or the text heading "U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary" shall be located at the top of the sites main page. Immediately below the above noted heading shall be a subordinate heading that identifies the sponsoring unit. (3) When graphic images are used to identify the origin of a site, an alternate text identification shall be included in the HTML code that displays that image. This may be accomplished by the use of an ALT= attribute. return to form

(1) Auxiliary sites may link to Internet sites not operated under the authority of the Coast Guard or Auxiliary. To do so, the following provisions must be met:

CONTENT

(1) Content for Auxiliary sites must be developed and maintained to reflect the level, in the Auxiliary, that the site represents. National sites shall post materials that represent National information and/or policy. Likewise, division levels sites shall only post division level materials. return to form

(2) The duplication of posted information must be avoided. Sites that desire to provide information generated by a site at a different level may link to the site originating that information. For instance, a division level site may provide their users with National level materials by providing links to the National page containing the desired information. return to form

(3) The original source of all information posted on Auxiliary internet sites must be clearly indicated. return to form

(4) The following items may be posted on AUX Web pages without further approval. return to form

(a) Verbatim reproductions of official information intended for public distribution. This may include public information from:

(1) Coast Guard Headquarters.

(2) Auxiliary National officers.

(3) Coast Guard District offices.

(4) Auxiliary District officers.

(5) Auxiliary Directors.

(5) Information not covered by the above paragraph shall require prior approval as described in the current Auxiliary Manual and the Publication Guide. return to form

(6) No site may post information that would be inappropriate. This shall include specific advice, endorsement or approval of a product or service, or sponsorship information. In addition, materials that infringe on the rights or privacy of an individual, or violate copyright restrictions are prohibited. return to form

PRIVACY POLICY STATEMENT

(1) All Auxiliary websites must have a defined, clearly posted Privacy Policy. The statement, or a link to the statement, should be included on the main entry page of all Auxiliary sites. The policy statement should inform the user if any personal data is being collected.  return to form

(2) Auxiliary policy requires that there must be a compelling reason to collect user data.  return to form

(3) Online forms such as surveys, questionnaires, or registration forms, also fall under the Privacy Policy.  Access to, and use of the collected data must be limited to the purpose for which the form was intended.  return to form
